Special Council Meeting

Melcher-Dallas City Hall

 5:00 P.M.

 

CALL TO ORDER 5:00 P.M.

Mayor Van Wyk called the meeting to order at 5:00 pm

Roll Call:

Council Members Present: Fisher, Herold, Ernst. Council member Robbins arrived at 5:06 pm. Council member Alexander was not present.

 

Approval of Agenda

A motion was made by Fisher to approve the agenda.  Seconded by Herold.  Ayes-All. Motion carried.

 

Public Hearing   

Proposed Plans and Specifications, Form of Contract and Estimate of Cost for “Culvert Replacement-Melcher-Dallas, Iowa-2016” and as Described  in Detail in the Plans and Specifications for Said Material                                          

 A motion was made by Fisher to open the public hearing at 5:03 pm. Seconded by Herold. Ayes-All. Motion carried.  No public was present for discussion. A motion was made by Fisher to close the hearing at 5:05 pm. Seconded by Ernst.  Ayes-All. Motion carried.

 

NEW BUSINESS

  • Approval to Accept or Reject Bids for Proposed Culvert Project

A motion was made by Fisher to accept the low bid of $82,867.00 submitted by Vanderpool for the culvert project.  Seconded by Ernst. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.

  • Discuss Additional Stop Signs on Main Street in Front of the High school with Possible Action

A motion was made by Herold to erect two stop signs at the intersection of “B” and Main Street by the high school.  One stop sign will face south and the other will face north.  Seconded by Ernst. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

  • Approval to Purchase Used Pole Style Christmas Decorations

A motion was made by Robbins to purchase 18 decorations for $200.00. The decorations have been re-strung with LED lights.  Seconded by Ernst. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.

  • Discuss Zoning Complaint with Possible Action

A motion was made by Robbins to table the item.  The Clerk will contact the City Attorney and the Andrew Collings from DMAMPO.   Seconded by Fisher. Ayes-Fisher, Robbins, Herold. Abstain-Ernst. Motion Carried.

 

OLD BUSINESS

  • Discuss Vacated “C” street and Access to 412 SE 3rd Street with Possible Action

A motion was made by Fisher to proceed with the land deed for the lane that runs to 412 SE 3rd Street.  The coop stated they are willing to deed that strip of land to the City. The city would like a total of 45 feet in width on the land strip (22 feet each way from center of the lane).  Seconded by Robbins. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

A motion was made by Herold to adjourn at 5:56 pm.  Seconded by Robbins. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.
