Organizational Meeting

Melcher-Dallas City Hall

January 9th, 2017

7:00 P.M.

Mayor Van Wyk called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.

Council members present: Fisher, Herold, Ernst.  Council members Robbins and Alexander were absent.

Approval of Agenda

A motion was made by Fisher to approve the agenda.   Seconded by Ernst. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

NEW BUSINESS

1. Set Date and Time of Regular Council Meetings (Currently 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 PM)

A motion was made by Fisher to approve the council meetings to be held on the 2nd Monday of the month at 7:00 pm at City Hall. Seconded by Ernst. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.

2. Designate Official Depositories (Currently Iowa State Savings Bank and Peoples Bank)

A motion was made by Fisher to approve Iowa State Savings Bank and Peoples Bank as the City’s official depository. Seconded by Herold. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.

  1. Designate Place for Official Publication (Currently The Journal Express)

A motion was made by Herold to approve The Journal Express as the City’s official place for publication. Seconded by Fisher. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.

4. Appointment of City Clerk (Currently Martha Becker)

A motion was made by Fisher to appoint Martha Becker as the City Clerk. Seconded by Herold. Ayes-All. Motion Carried.

  1. Appointment of City Attorney (Currently Stuyvesant and Benton)

A motion was made by Fisher to appoint Stuyvesant and Benton as the city attorney.  Seconded by Herold. Ayes-All. Motion carried.

MAYOR ACTIONS

  1. Appoint Police Chief (Currently Steve Johns)

Mayor Van Wyk appointed Steve Johns to police chief with no objections from council.

  1. Appoint Mayor Pro-Tem (Currently Terry Fisher)

Mayor VanWyk appointed Terry Fisher as Mayor Pro-Tem with no objections from the council.

Adjournment

A motion was made by Herold to adjourn at 7:06 pm. Seconded by Ernst. Ayes-All. Motion carried.
